Update for This Week!
by posted 05/23/2022

Hey there, Marlins -- I wanted to send over a few quick schedule updates. I was surprised to see that the league cancelled all Saturday games for this coming weekend, due to the Memorial Day holiday. That means that our game against the Orioles on Saturday will now be rescheduled for Friday, May 27 at 5:45pm at Sperry #3 (weather permitting). That means that this week's schedule is:

  • Game: Tuesday, May 24 at 5:45pm at Sperry #3 against the Braves
  • Practice: Thursday, May 26 at 5:30pm at Thompson Brook School
  • Game: Friday, May 27 at 5:45pm at Sperry #3 against the Orioles
  • NO GAME SATURDAY

Then there's one more week to follow of the regular season. I've just been told that we've had a game added into our schedule for that next week on Wednesday, so our following week schedule is:

  • Game: Wednesday, June 1 at 5:45pm at Sperry #3 against the Cardinals
  • Practice: Thursday, June 2 at 5:30pm at Thompson Brook School
  • Game: Saturday, June 4 at 11:30am at Sperry #3 against the Blue Jays

The following week (we think) is the playoffs (and hopefully a small end-of-year event), and we'll be looking out for more information on that as we hear it.

Thanks, and hope everyone has a great week!

Today's Game: Heat Wave!
by posted 05/21/2022

Hey there, team -- I haven't heard any updates yet from the city on whether or not we'll be able to play Today at 2:00pm at Sperry #3 against the White Sox, but in case we do ... please remember sunscreen and water for your kids, and make sure to keep them hydrated this afternoon. Temps will be crazy high. We'll try and bring a tent and some drinks for the kids, but please be sure to keep them safe today.

Yesterday's game was great, even though we lost 8-7. Our team scored more runs that we ever had before, including five in one inning! (We'd only ever scored four in a whole game before!) Eli and Andrew M. both crushed it with three hits, and C.J. did an awesome job showing the rest of the team how to be active, ready, and hustling in the field. For those of you who were asking about the score, there was some confusion on the rules during the first inning that led to a miscommunication, so that's why some of us thought the game was tied at the end of the game.

If we do get to play today, I'm confident the kids will keep up their hot hitting in this hot weather, and we'll all do our best.

Practice Cancelled for Tomorrow 5/19
by posted 05/18/2022

Either good news or bad, depending on your point of view! Thompson Brook School has let us know they need their field tomorrow, and now with the rain incoming, it probably makes sense to cancel practice for Thursday, May 19. We'll see everyone at the field on Friday for the game (5:45pm, Sperry #3)!

Weekly Update / Game Result
by posted 05/18/2022

Hey there, Marlins -- I'm so glad that we had such a good turnout for Tuesday's game, even though the Guardians beat us 17-2. There was a lot of positive things to come out of the game, including Liam to be just the second hitter on our team to hit a double this season and Lucas making a great play at third base to stop a late rally, but I know it's a downer to lose another one. We also said farewell to Khoi (for now), as he'll be leaving our team for the rest of the regular season ... but maybe we'll get lucky and have him back for the playoffs. This week's set for another practice and two more games; and at the practice we'll be making a special effort to work on our defense.

  • Thursday, May 19 at 5:30pm at Thompson Brook School - Practice! (Should end around 7:00pm.)
  • Friday, May 20 at 5:45pm at Sperry #3 - game vs. Diamonbacks
  • Saturday, May 21 at 2:00pm at Sperry #3 - game vs. White Sox

Especially with the weather getting hot (temps in the 90s for Saturday's game), please be sure to bring water for the kids to the field. Let's keep working hard, practicing, and get ready for a strong second half to the season!

Best,

Practice / Game / Pictures / Jamboree
by posted 05/12/2022

Hey there, everyone -- time for (yet another) Marlins news update!

We made a great effort on Tuesday at our game, but the Blue Jays cleaned our clocks, 12 to 1. There was a lot to be proud of: good efforts made by everyone, Aiden F. had a tremendous game at the plate with two hits, and overall the team is improving in focus, attention, and knowing the right plays at the right time. At the same time, I know the kids are starting to get a little bummed out by our 1-4 record. Since we're moving to the middle of the season, we'll be shifting the focus of our practices and games to drive a little more improvement in specific areas from each of our kids: we'll work hard to get everyone ready for next season (which for most of our team means the big jump to the Minors), while putting ourselves in a better position to win our games so the kids have a little more fun. Part of this will include a focused position or two that each kid will play in every game, though we'll keep rotating through positions as well. As always, if you have any questions, let me know.

Today's practice is at Thompson Brook School at 5:30pm. Coach Greg and Coach Garrett will be running the show today as I'm out, which should be a lot of fun for everyone!

Tomorrow (5/13), we want to meet by the Sperry Field Dumpsters (across from the concession stand) at 5:15pm for pictures! Then we'll have our game at Sperry #3 at 5:45pm against the Orioles. Here are the instructions to pre-order your pics:

Saturday, 5/14 is the Little League Jamboree. Attendance is definitely optional, but we'll be meeting at Sperry #3 at 8:30am. It should be a fun event ... and remember that there's no game on Saturday this week.

Thanks to all the kids for their hard work and to the parents for sticking with us, practicing, and being involved. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday!
